Generac Generator Problems

As is the case with almost any piece of mechanical equipment, Generac generator problems are a fact of life. Any piece of engineering is eventually going to have an issue of some kind. The more prepared you are for issues that can crop up; the better your chances are for fixing these issues.
A common problem Generac owners have experienced is their unit not starting. If the unit will not start, your first course of action should be to check the fuel tank.
Ensure it is not out of gas. If enough fuel is present in the tank, check the engine on/off switch next. Make sure it is in the “on” position. Checking to make sure the spark plug has not gone bad is prudent, as is ensuring the wire connected to the spark plug slot has not come undone.
Generac generator problems can also include the engine running rough. A common cause of this issue is the fuel mix not being quite right. There may be too much water in the tank. If this appears to be the case, you’ll need to contact Generac service for some help. You can drain the tank and carburetor yourself and then refuel, but this is not recommended if you are uncomfortable or unsure of how to perform this procedure.
Another common cause of the engine running rough is a stuck intake valve. Unfortunately, this issue can be a tough one to fix on your own. Calling a repairman is the best option in this instance.
Another common issue is the engine working, but no power is being produced. The problem could be a flipped circuit breaker that needs to be reset. If the breaker(s) are active then the generators connection could have an internal issue. If all connections are solid, then calling a repairman to diagnose the issue is prudent.
Generac generator problems are relatively simple to fix. By preparing for them before they occur you can more accurately and quickly troubleshoot and affect repairs. The result will be far less downtime and minimization of stress. Whether you are seeking a residential or commercial unit, these generators are a proven quality investment.
